To coincide with the sixth anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh where 1,138 people were killed when a factory collapsed, Fashion Revolution Week are running a #whomademyclothes campaign from 22th-28th April 2019.
Finding out where and how your clothes are made should always be part of the decision-making process when it comes buying your garments. We absolutely endorse the view that loving fashion should not come at the cost of people - or our planet.
As you may know, we proudly make all of our pieces on the shop floor of our Brighton boutique. We use locally sourced laces, up-cycled and reclaimed trims - and try to work with a minimal waste philosophy. Off-cuts from our bespoke pieces are used to create limited edition knickers which we are able to sell to our customers at a lower price, small rolls of lace are saved from being dumped in landfills and we frequent source organic and ethically printed fabrics for our eco range.
Our Brighton boutique - based in the Seven Dials area of the city – stocks a number of independent and ethical labels. Toba Brighton - run by designer Jemma French - has been with us since we first opened our doors in 2016 and we regularly host events together. Toba Brighton has become recognised for their delicate, contemporary, handcrafted jewellery. Made using up-cycled freshwater pearls, Toba's distinctive style is that of contemporary, modern minimalism delivered in a cool, natural colour palette.

Make Do & Mend
During Fashion Revolution Week (22nd-28thApril), we'll be running special customisation sessions in our boutique alongside Toba Brighton. We're inviting visitors to bring in their pre-loved jewellery, accessories and clothing for a dose of creative TLC by our in-house makers.
Do you have a dress, maybe with a tear, stain or missing fastening? Or just an old top with a great print but a shapeless silhouette? Or possibly a beaded bracelet – broken and unworn? We can create bespoke repairs to bring these formally-favoured items back to life.
A printed silk scarf could be remade into a beautiful pair of knickers, broken sentimental jewellery could be reborn as a more minimal and timeless piece or we can even rework an item to give it an altogether new look.
Our bespoke repairs service allows every piece to be tailored to your specific needs, and we'll work with you to understand what you love about the item, and what you'd like to update. Bring in your piece for a quote – customised repairs start at just £5.00 for jewellery and £28.00 for lingerie.

Meet The Maker
On Friday 26th April we will be hosting an event that will offer our customers the opportunity to meet the makers behind both Ayten Gasson and Toba Brighton – the fourth such collaboration between our two independent ventures.
Join us between 4pm and 7pm for drinks and special promotions - along with the chance to discuss bespoke orders directly with us. The event will also coincide with the launch of Toba Brighton’s new collection and Ayten Gasson boutiques’ third birthday.
